Ashtanga Yoga Retreat November 2 - 8 Douliana, Crete

I am bursting with excitement to be hosting my first retreat, a long-awaited joyful reunion in one of my favourite spots on the planet. Armonia retreat is in the heart of the picturesque traditional village of Douliana, nestled in beautiful nature just a short ride away from the sea.

The location

I am so excited to welcome you to my first retreat in the magical island of Crete. Surrounded by beautiful nature, Armonia Retreat Center is located in the picturesque village of Douliana just a 45 minutes ride from Chania. Because of its location in the Apokoronas region there are charming and historical sites close by such as Lake Kournas, Ancient Aptera, and the old town of Chania. There are also lovely beaches, one of which can be reached via an ancient footpath.

Chania Airport is a 45 minutes ride away while Heraklion is about 1.5 hour, and there is also a daily ferry leaving from Athens. Renting a car is always a good idea in order to explore the island, however transfers can be arranged at any moment.

The Venue

Armonia Retreat is the perfect balance of modern, beauty, and serenity, it is an idyllic place to relax, reconnect, recharge and reinvigorate.

The rooms are beautifully designed with simple and natural materials, and all exude a sense of grounding while soft linens and textiles invite relaxation. The rooms can be booked as a single, double, or shared.

Cretan food is known for its simplicity and for being absolutely delicious,  all while being prepared with an almost religious reverence for good ingredients. We will enjoy two daily meals, a hearty post practice brunch and a dinner as well as coffee, teas, and fruits during the day - all local and grown organically.

We will practice in the 65 square meter shala which has a wooden floors and two sets of double french doors that open to a beautiful outdoor sitting area - and it is equipped with yoga matts, cushions and blankets.

There are also plenty of common areas to unwind in and explore both inside and outside.

The Practise

During the week we will be immersing ourselves in self-exploration, always using the Ashtanga methodology as our framework in a safe an intimate setting. We will begin each morning with Mysore style asana practice and we will take our time to explore meditation and pranayama techniques as well as chanting, discussion, and sharing and anything else that emerges from our coming together (where the real magic happens!). There are no pre-requisites to join this retreat just an open mind and open heart - all levels and series welcome.

This retreat is ideal for:

  • Anyone wanting to reconnect to their practice

  • Yoga teachers looking to re-invigorate their own practice

  • Anyone dealing with injury or chronic issues looking to find new ways around them

  • Anyone wanting to get started or learn the sequence

  • If you miss practicing in community and getting support

  • If you are currently working through ‘practice hurdles’

  • Those who rarely get the opportunity to dive deep into the practice

  • Anyone wanting to connect and share with like minded people

I look forward to seeing you there x
